Simone Stanley led the second cohort of high school students through her ThermoHUE educational program during the week of July 25, 2016. With two volunteers (Mahtab Waseem & Tariq Johnson), Simone spent four days at Friendship Public Charter School (FPCS) – Tech Prep Academiy, in Southeast, Washington, D.C., introducing fifteen students to chemical kinetics principles through a BEDD-sponsored project.
The ThermoHUE project led by Simone aims to introduce high school students to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields and principles. The project relies on an experiment-based learning education app and hands-on laboratory activities developed by a multidisciplinary team of college students in the School of Engineering and Computer Sciences at Howard University.
