Research from the Biofilm Engineering and Drug Discovery (BEDD) group was featured at the 2017 Annual Student Conference (October 27-30) in Minneapolis, MN.
- Mahtab Waseem (a senior undergraduate student in Chemical Engineering) presented a poster titled: “Analyzing Chemical Compound Modulators of the Vibrio cholerae PTS and Biofilm Formation ” in the Food, Pharmaceutical, and Biotechnology session of the Student Poster Competition. Her presentation was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF Award Number: 1505301)
- Ayomikun Olarinoye (a junior undergraduate student in Chemical Engineering) introduced her environmental project in a poster titled: “Investigating Iodate Reduction by Microbial Communities from the Hanford Site” at the Environmental Poster session. Her presentation was funded by the Department of Energy’s Minority Serving Institutions Partnership (MSIPP) at Savannah River National Laboratory.

- For the second year, the BEDD team was accompanied by four junior and Senior ChemE undergraduate students (Eliel Akinbami, Chidumebi Alim, Chizzy Okoye, and April Howard) who received travel awards to attend the conference from the Howard University student chapter of the AIChE and the Department of Chemical Engineering.
